Lucas Konovalenko, MD, PHD

Lucas Konovalenko, M.D., Ph.D., hails from the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California. As an undergraduate, he traveled east to study at Yale University where he was awarded the prestigious Edward A. Bouchet Fellowship for his research on photosynthesis as renewable source of consumer energy production. Dr. Konovalenko then matriculated to Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where he enrolled in medical scientist training program and completed both an M.D. and a Ph.D. His Ph.D. research was in a novel surgical therapy to treat patients with spinal cord injuries. Dr. Konovalenko then pursued an Anesthesiology residency at the University of Michigan.

In an effort to serve the needs of the growing population experiencing chronic pain, Dr. Konovalenko accepted a fellowship in Pain Medicine at Stanford University where he learned to treat complex pain syndromes from the top experts in the field. Dr. Konovalenko is dedicated to using his advanced training in multi-modal pain therapies to improve the quality of life of patients who experience chronic pain.

In his free time, Dr. Konovalenko enjoys fly-fishing, golf, and alpine skiing.

Toufan Razi, MD

Dr. Razi received his graduate training at the Ross University Medical School, with his graduate-level residency in anesthesiology at the famous Beth Israel-Deaconess hospitals affiliated with Harvard. He is double board-eligible in both Anesthesia and Pain Management. Dr. Razi explains that it was about halfway through his anesthesia residency that he became interested in working with “awake people” as opposed to anesthetized patients undergoing surgery, and especially with patients experiencing chronic pain difficulties. Within his understanding of the biopsychosocial functional restoration paradigm for treating such people. Dr. Razi has additional training and certification in opioid detoxification. He expects to be working closely with Dr. Jasmine Silva and the Footsteps program in the Walnut Creek site to increase referrals that would benefit patients who need to decrease or discontinue the use of narcotic medications for chronic pain. Dr. Razi has two locations. One in Fairfield and another conveniently located in San Leandro, two blocks from the freeway and near the local Kaiser-Permanente medical facility.
