Boomerang Healthcare’s Trauma Recovery Program (TRP) is an intensive 8-week program that helps individuals heal from the psychological, emotional, and physical effects of trauma. Whether your trauma comes from a single event or long-term stress, the TRP provides a structured path to reduce symptoms, rebuild self-regulation, and regain confidence. Through psychology, fitness, creative expression, mindfulness, and wellness practices, our trauma-informed team delivers comprehensive, evidence-based care.

Who the Program Helps

Supporting Adults Living With Trauma Symptoms

Participants in the Trauma Recovery Program often experience patterns such as avoidance and hypervigilance, disrupted sleep or nightmares, heightened anxiety or depression, emotional reactivity, and sensory overstimulation. These symptoms may interfere with daily functioning, work performance, relationships, communication, and self-regulation, and can also present as changes in eating behaviors or substance use as individuals attempt to cope with ongoing stress and trauma responses.

The Trauma Recovery Program (TRP) helps individuals manage the wide range of emotional, psychological, and physical symptoms that often follow trauma. This includes persistent anxiety, emotional dysregulation, intrusive memories, panic responses, sleep disruption, and overwhelming triggers. Many participants also struggle with physical tension, social withdrawal, loss of motivation or identity, or difficulty handling daily stressors.

Group Therapy

Participants take part in group sessions that build community, shared understanding, and emotional regulation skills.

Psychology Groups

Led by mental health professionals, these groups focus on understanding trauma responses, managing hyper vigilance and reactivity, building emotional regulation, and learning tools to navigate anxiety, depression, and daily challenges.

Fitness

Movement plays a key role in trauma recovery. Fitness classes focus on gentle, safe, trauma-informed physical activity that improves mood, reduces stress, restores body confidence, and supports return to function or return to work.

Nutrition Education

Nutrition classes address how eating habits relate to trauma, sleep, focus, and overall health.

Creative Expression

Using art, music, writing, and other creative outlets, participants can process emotions, reduce internal pressure, and explore identity in a safe, nonverbal way.

Mindfulness

Dedicated mindfulness sessions help reduce overstimulation, ground the nervous system, and increase present-moment awareness. Participants learn self-regulation skills through guided breathing, mindful movement and stretching.

Individual Therapy

Each participant receives one-on-one therapy with a trauma-trained clinician using evidence-based treatments, including: Trauma-Focused CBT, EMDR, exposure-based therapies. These sessions help reduce emotional distress, challenge trauma-related beliefs, improve interpersonal functioning, and build readiness for returning to meaningful roles at home and work.

Family Inclusion

Because healthy relationships support long-term recovery, the program offers optional family involvement through: Education on trauma and healing, guided family sessions structured opportunities for loved ones to participate in the recovery process. This helps participants strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and create a supportive home environment.
