Dr. Adam Hammer, double board-certified in Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, from the East Coast. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania, he studied and received his MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Hammer then went on to receive both his post-graduate residency and fellowship training at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City through the Departments of Rehabilitation Medicine and Anesthesiology. After completing his formal training at Mount Sinai, Dr. Hammer worked at Long Island's foremost multispecialty orthopedic practice, Orlin and Cohen Orthopedic Associates, where he served as the founding Medical Director of the Pain Division and built the practice from the ground up.
Through his experience treating patients since 2002, Dr. Hammer believes that every patient is unique and special and should be treated as a whole person: body, mind and spirit. Dr. Hammer has ventured on to become certified in medical acupuncture through the Helm's Medical Institute, has become certified as a Sivananda yoga instructor, and has studied meditation, including the ancient Vipassana technique. These unique skill sets and experiences have allowed Dr. Hammer to treat his patients with a more holistic and broad-based mindset, while still offering them the most advanced interventional and state-of-the-art techniques such as spinal cord stimulation and percutaneous disc decompression.
A man of many coats, Dr. Hammer also trained at the prestigious French Culinary Institute in their Culinary Arts Program. He is a food enthusiast and loves to cook, especially for friends and family- mostly wholesome vegetarian food. He also enjoys road cycling and practicing yoga and pilates. Having suffered from a debilitating back injury and pain himself, Dr. Hammer can empathize with his patients, and is living proof that leading a well-balanced and active lifestyle is supremely important for the treatment of pain. He encourages his own patients to stay active and to stay positive.
