Dr. William Grief graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. He subsequently joined the U.S. Army and attended the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland where he earned his Doctorate of Medicine.

He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC. He then went on to become the first ever Family Medicine Physician in the Army to complete an Interventional Pain Management Fellowship at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. He served nearly 25 years in the Army, was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His many accolades included three Bronze Stars and the Legion of Merit. He retired honorably in 2019 and in the same year joined the Comprehensive Spine and Sports Center team. Dr. Grief brings with him extensive experience treating sports and spine injuries for our nation’s most elite soldiers. He is skilled in using ultrasound for pinpoint guidance of musculoskeletal injectional therapy as well as for Stellate Ganglion Blocks for PTSD. He is also highly trained in the use of fluoroscopy for spine interventions. He has a special interest in regenerative medicine, spinal cord stimulation and other neuromodulation applications for the treatment of recalcitrant pain syndromes such as CRPS.
